Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder)
Trichotillomania is a condition where the individual has an irresistible urge to pull out their own hair from the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, underarms, face or other parts of the body often resulting in visible hair loss.
Some psychologists believe that Trichotillomania is a mental health problem. Theories suggest that a person pull their own hair out to relieve stress or anxiety and that it is similar to obsessive compulsive disorder.
As many trichotillomania sufferers pull their hair automatically and often unconsciously, hypnotherapy and NLP can help people to become more aware of their actions and also to change the ‘habit’.
