‘Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die’– Buddha
Anger is natural and healthy emotion. People feel anger as a response to something that threatens them. It could be in response to an attack; feelings of being hurt, betrayed, deceived, lied to; feelings of frustration. When anger gets to be the ‘norm’ or becomes out of control, it becomes a problem. When people hold on to anger they hurt themselves. When people lash out with their anger they damage not only yourself but also those around them. It can devastate families, relationships, careers, friendships and just about everything it touches. Those who suffer with anger ‘issues’ may experience a variety of side effects including illnesses and insomnia.
There are a variety of causes for the angry behaviour and usually these are discovered during the sessions. The techniques used in the anger management sessions can help the sufferer to gain more control over their emotions and their behaviour, to become calmer, more rational, to discover new ways of doing things, to make important life changes to help them have a happier, more peaceful life.
